Tirana, 1–3 April 2025 — A Best Practices for Inspecting Security Equipment training course was organised by the ECAC Secretariat in Tirana, with the support of an experienced technical expert from France.

The training gathered national auditors from Albania, Bulgaria, Estonia, Georgia, Lithuania and Malta, and offered participants the opportunity to develop their understanding of security equipment. The course focused on Doc 30, Part II (Security) recommendations related to security equipment, including technical specifications and performance standards across various screening technologies.

Designed to enhance participants’ knowledge, the course highlighted the essential elements of effective security equipment deployment, as well as the capabilities and limitations of different technologies used for screening persons and items. A combination of theoretical sessions and hands-on activities at the airport allowed attendees to gain practical experience in inspecting the deployment of security equipment across different areas of aviation security.

The course also reinforced the important roles played by the Appropriate Authority and the ECAC Common Evaluation Process (CEP) of security equipment in the oversight and evaluation of security equipment.
