Videoconference, 23 April 2025 — 82nd meeting of the European Aviation and Environment Working Group (Expanded) focused on preparations for the 42nd ICAO Assembly, including a review of draft European papers to be presented to the Assembly.
Members also heard an update from the online meeting of the International Aviation Climate Ambition Coalition (IACAC) held on 16 April. Discussions highlighted the Coalition’s continued work on sustainable aviation fuels, the ICAO Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), climate financing, and tracking progress towards the long-term aspirational goal (LTAG).
The meeting marked the final EAEG session co-chaired by Andrei Mungiu of the European Commission. A member of EAEG since its inaugural meeting in 2017, Mr Mungiu has served as EAEG co-chair for the European Commission since March 2023. EAEG members warmly expressed their appreciation for his longstanding commitment to advancing environmental goals in aviation. The ECAC Secretariat joins the group in thanking Mr Mungiu for his valuable contributions and the excellent cooperation, and wishes him every success in the next chapter of his professional career.
