Videoconference, 19-20 September 2022 — The role of technical innovations in addressing current and emerging threats, and challenges relating to the use of security equipment were the focus of discussions at the 56th Guidance Material Task Force meeting. The group agreed to develop three new documents in 2023 to promote technical innovations and the deployment of advanced security technologies.
The purpose of these documents is to provide ECAC Member States with best practices to certify/approve security equipment and acceptance testing of security equipment.
The task force endorsed several new guidance documents, including on interpreting the ICAO Risk Context Statement and its use in threat and risk assessment, and on using an explosive trace detection (ETD) test kit: procedure for implementing independent testing by the Appropriate Authority. Guidance on the alarm resolution process of EDS Standard 3 and guidance material on background checks were also updated. Several new and updated documents were finalised by the end of September 2022.
