Videoconference, 13 March 2023 — At the first of two meetings ahead of the 34th ICAO Aviation Security Panel, the members of the European Coordination Group on Aviation Security (ECG-AS) began the development of priorities for the panel, noting that working papers from European panel members and observers were planned on cyber security guidance, CASE II capacity building and perimeter security. Preparations will continue ahead of the group’s main preparatory meeting in Paris on 16 May (ECG-AS/13).

Videoconference, 8-9 March 2023 — Several new documents to be developed by the ECAC Training Task Force in 2023 for the ECAC Aviation Security Handbook formed the basis of discussions at the task force’s recent meeting. The new documents will include guidance on screener pre-selection, and training aspects in the use of Automated Prohibited Item Detection (APID) software.

Videoconference, 9 March 2023 — The ECAC Facilitation Sub-Group on Immigration met virtually for the first time in 2023 for its 55th meeting. Participants shared information on the increasing efforts of Member States – both non-EU and EU – to prepare for the implementation of the Entry/Exit System (EES) changes through a range of measures at the border, including additional training and procurement of staff, the testing of new technologies, and innovative passenger processing ideas. Evolving issues relating to Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Records (PNR) were also discussed.

Videoconference, 9 March 2023 — The first ECAC Guidance on Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), published on 24 February 2023, was presented to over 100 participants from ECAC Member States and European organisations at the third ECAC workshop on sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) organised within the framework of the ECAC Capacity-Building Programme for Environment.

Dublin, 27 Febuary - 3 March 2023 — National auditors from Belgium, Estonia, Ireland, Montenegro and Slovakia participated in the ECAC Best Practices for National Auditors – Level 1 training course organised in Dublin. Over the course of five days, the eight participants developed their knowledge and skills in inspecting passenger and cabin baggage screening, passenger and baggage reconciliation, hold baggage screening and protection.

Videoconference, 27 and 28 February 2023 — In response to requests from several Member States and as agreed by Directors General in December 2022, the ECAC Secretariat has launched capacity-building activities on diversity matters with the objective of promoting a better understanding of diversity and inclusion good practices in the work environment. Among these initiatives is a diversity training course consisting of three sessions that will be held online in February-March 2023 addressing topics on diversity, equity, inclusion and unconscious bias. The first session was organised on 27 February.
